9 Artists That Would Have Been Better At The Olympic Closing Ceremonies
If you're like me, the musical talent at the Vancouver 2010 closing ceremonies left much to be desired. Aside from a moving piece from Neil Young, and a funny monologue by William Shatner, the ceremonies were marred with subpar performances by Nickelback, Avril Lavigne, and a host of relative unknowns. While I was watching these ceremonies, the only thought that came to my mind was: "THIS is what the rest of the world is going to think 'Canadian music' is?!" That thought prompted me to create this list.
I want to set the record straight: Canada does produce amazing musical talent. I don't know if these artists were ever contacted by the Vancouver Olympics organizers, or if they were too busy to perform, but each of these artists would have been better than the confusing, and often embarrassing display that happened two weeks ago.
I'm not going to go into detail about these artists, because I'm sure most of you know who they all are. So, without further ado, here is my list, in no particular order.
1. Céline Dion (Québec)

2. Our Lady Peace (Ontario)

3. Arcade Fire (Québec)
